I positively LOVED this book! We’re not really dealing with “dirty talk” so much as ironically sarcastic flirtation, which apparently is just as good!
What’s it About?
Gadget journalist Christie St. John is more geek than chic. But when research for an article she has to write on online dating leads to the bed of the hottest guy she’s ever met, she knows that if the geek is to keep the hottie CEO, she’s going to have to come out of her digital shell.
Tech mogul Joseph Ashton never expected an Internet blind date to end in the best sex of his life. Yet as the chemistry between him and Christie burns out of control, he can’t help but think this woman is out for his money like all the rest. She claims she wants his heart instead – but that’s the one thing he can never give.
First Impressions
Yes, technically CEO is in the title, but this really isn’t your typical billionaire romance. Believe me, you won’t be making comparisons to 50 Shades anywhere up in this business! I mean, these two talk about her UGG boots in the midst of their dirty talk. Although Joseph might have billions, money is never really a huge part of the story, which I found to be unbelievably refreshing. Much more focus is placed on how his ADHD could impact their relationship, thereby providing an added layer of depth to the story.
Love in the Digital Age
In a way, this story is more of a geeky love story than a romance featuring a dominating billionaire. Both characters are rather techy, and flirt online in a chat room under the names of “Naughty Girl” and “Love Machine”. To be completely honest, I’m terrible with technology, so I really appreciated that the novel never got to be overly technical to a point where I couldn’t connect with the characters. Believe me, this has happened before in other romances when love blooms between two self-appointed nerds, so I was happy that I could still follow along. And with those user names, how could you not be intrigued to read more?!
Series: Talking Dirty, book 1.
Should you read it? Yes please! The chemistry between these 2 characters is awesome. Beyond the physical side of things though, they really do help each other become stronger people. He helps her stand up to her critical parents, and she show shim that he’s still worth loving in spite of his ADHD. And I’m officially in love with both of them!
Smut Level: Flirtation leads to bathroom sex upon first meeting. Then Christie quickly flees. When they reunite she’s somewhat hesitant to steam things up again, but let’s just say Joseph helps her with that little concern.
