Victorious by Marie Force

Well, well, well, it looks like our sexual dominant was finally let out to play.

What’s it About?

victorious

After surviving a traumatic event at age fifteen and the ensuing estrangement from her family, Natalie Bryant has worked for years to reinvent herself into the woman she is today—a happy teacher fresh out of college and enjoying her first winter in New York City with her faithful dog, Fluff, by her side. Natalie isn’t expecting her life to change completely during a routine stroll through Greenwich Village on a blustery January day. But when Fluff breaks loose and charges into a park, Natalie gives chase and crashes into her destiny. Only after Fluff bites and draws blood from the man who accidentally knocked Natalie down does she realize Fluff has bitten the biggest movie star in the world.

He has no business being enthralled by the gorgeous, young, innocent teacher…Natalie captivates Flynn Godfrey from the first moment their eyes meet while she is lying on the ground and he’s fighting off her ferocious little beast of a dog. The only thing Flynn knows for certain is if he lets Natalie get away, he’ll regret it for the rest of his life. After only a short time in her presence, Flynn is prepared to change who he is to be what she needs. He knows he’s in big trouble when she says she won’t sleep with him and he doesn’t care if it means he gets to keep her in his life. But can he turn his back on the lifestyle that has defined him? Can he deny the desires that drive him to give Natalie the introduction to love and romance she so deserves? And most of all, can he keep his truth hidden from her long enough to have forever with her?

First Impressions

So at the end of the last book, Nat chose to leave Flynn after realizing he lied to her face about his kinky sexual preferences. She tells him that she needs space to think over their relationship. Yeah…that lasts for about one day, and only 8% of the book. What follows is Flynn slowly introducing Nat to the BDSM lifestyle, and his sexually dominant side finally comes to the forefront.

Playtime

Although I was a tad disappointed that Nat fell back into Flynn’s arms, or bed for that matter, so quickly, I must say it was kind of nice that he didn’t push her in regards to her hard limits. For example, touching. She wants to touch him during sex, and he actually lets her. How many times do you read a book with BDSM aspects where as soon as the female lead says she wants to touch the man he ties her hands to the headboard?

They really do take baby steps in exploring BDSM together, and they don’t do anything too over the top. Believe me, I’ve read much worse. If anything, I felt like things were almost too repetitive. He loves providing her with things that vibrate, and he seems rather obsessed with her butt. Come on man, worship other parts of her anatomy already.

Series: Quantum series, book 3. The last book featuring Nat and Flynn as main characters.

Should you read it? Overall, this series was very sexy, but also had it’s sweet moments as well. All three books are very quick reads, and kind of addictive, but they could also be overtly sappy with too many endearments and declarations of true love.

Smut Level: Our dominant no longer has to reserve his BDSM fantasies to his dreams.

Valorous by Marie Force

I’m shocked that for a romance novel featuring a movie star falling for a nobody, there’s actually some sense of realism to it! Not to mention a pretty big F-You to the media!

What’s it About?

valorous

Can he deny the desires that drive him to give Natalie the introduction to love and romance she so deserves? And most of all, can he keep his truth hidden from her long enough to have forever with her?

First Impressions

At the end of book one, the entire world found out about Natalie’s past, and we sort of hold our breath speculating how everyone will react. Turns out, pretty much everyone in the entire USA is supportive of her, and they bash the media for prying into her private life. Gotta love the joys of Twitter! I also enjoyed how in this novel there was sort of a sense of realism in that Natalie’s past was front page news for a hot second, before some other celebrity gossip took everyone’s attention away. It seems like in most celebrity romance novels our female lead is constantly being chased by the dreaded paparazzi, and splashed all over the gossip mags, even though she’s not in showbiz. In this book however, Natalie and Flynn are able to move on with their lives rather quickly after the dust settles.

Fallout

Most of this novel deals with the fallout of Natalie’s rape story being released to the public. You can’t help but appreciate all of the support which the community gives her for surviving such a tragic incident. I must say though, when it came to Natalie and Flynn dealing with the aftermath of the news release, they are so supportive and sickeningly sweet to each other it almost gave me a toothache.

Throughout the entire novel, we basically hear on continual repeat how she doesn’t want him to blame himself for the story coming out, and he still sees her as a beautiful woman whom he will love no matter what. Over and over and over again. While reading you can almost picture birds chirping and squirrels dancing from all their terms of endearment. Absolutely adore the love and support in the air, but it could’ve been taken down a notch or two.

The Truth Comes Out

My favorite part of this novel was the ending. Nat is an unbelievably strong character, and she’s not afraid to call out Flynn for keeping secrets from her while she’s been completely open and honest with him. She gave him a chance to tell the truth, and acknowledges how she understands he’s trying to protect her from his BDSM tendencies considering her past. What I loved though is that Natalie makes it clear she won’t stand for his lies. By keeping the truth from her, he is in a way implying she’s not strong enough to deal with the consequences. And she won’t stand for that. Boom baby!

Series: Quantum series, book 2. I enjoyed this one five thousand times more than book 1.

Should you read it? The beginning and end of this novel was fantastic. From the public’s support of Natalie, to her standing up to Flynn for keeping secrets. The in between dragged a bit for me, as there wasn’t as much story going on. Just a bunch of lovey dovey-ness between Flynn and Natalie.

Smut Level: Definitely getting more comfortable with each other, which translates into more dirty talk.

Sex Machine by Marie Force

Some people call it the one-eyed snake. Others call it the little general. When it comes to Blake, his is simply referred to as “The Cock”.

What’s it About?

SexMachine_cover_F3_HR.jpg

He’s good for one thing and one thing only—and she wants it bad. Honey Carmichael has never had a decent orgasm, and she’s out to change that with the one man in town known for his superior skill between the sheets. Blake Dempsey is happy to help Honey with her “problem” as long as she knows he’s only interested in sex. His heart was broken when his high school girlfriend was killed in the car he was driving, and he has nothing to offer other than more orgasms than Honey can handle.

Which is just fine with her—until fantastic orgasms aren’t enough anymore for either of them and unexpected feelings turn hot sex into messy entanglement—and that most definitely wasn’t in the plans. But you know what they say about plans…A sexy, dirty stand-alone romance intended for MATURE audiences. If you can’t take the heat in Blake’s bedroom, stay out or you might get burned. You’ve been warned!

First Impressions

You just know that when a novel starts with the line, “I want you to f*ck me”, that it’s going to be filled with all kinds of sexual delights. And believe you me, these two don’t waste any time getting down to business. Honey initially sought out Blake because no man has been able to provide her with a decent orgasm, and rumors of his sexual prowess are known about town. Basically, she wants to see what all the fuss is about sex in general, and she’s looking for a man who knows what he’s doing. Well, Honey definitely finds it in Blake! Not only does he provide her with multiple mind-blowing orgasms, but he keeps her up all night long with his impressive stamina.

Running from the Past

Blake has refused to connect emotionally with another woman since the tragic death of his high school girlfriend in a car accident. He’s since turned into a player by limiting his sexual interactions with other women to just one night. What I liked about this book was that Honey is the one to make him crave more, as they’ve known each other since they were just a couple of kids chasing each other around on the playground. It’s not like they just met randomly in a bar. There’s always been a connection between them. Now that they’ve opened a Pandora’s box, as it were, to a physical relationship, neither wants to see it end.

Communication is Key

The first half of this book is deliciously sex heavy. Then there’s a bit of a lull where I kind of wondered where the story was going. But then a climactic twist towards the end will threaten whether or not our couple will remain together.

The one aspect I wasn’t a huge fan of was that Honey and Blake don’t really have a heart-to-heart to resolve their issues. Blake has a very emotional conversation with a close friend of his about why he fears a future relationship with Honey, but he doesn’t communicate it to her directly. Instead, he turns away from her. Although Honey eventually goes after him, her ploy to get him back is to have sex with him. Come on folks, use your words. And not dirty ones for once!

Series: It definitely has the potential for one, but for now is just a stand-alone.

Should you read it? A sexy read to be sure. However, I wish our characters would have opened up a bit more with each other, and try to resolve their problems by actually communicating with one another. As it stands, their relationship could have used a tad more substance.

Fatal Affair by Marie Force

A murder mystery that’ll have you guessing until the very end, and suspecting almost every single character at one point to committing the grisly crime. Throw in a little sex up against a wall and you’ve got yourself a keeper.

What’s it About?

8162828

Washington, D.C., Metro Police Detective Sergeant Sam Holland needs a big win to salvage her career–and her confidence–after a disastrous investigation. The perfect opportunity arises when Senator John O’Connor is found brutally murdered in his bed, and Sam is assigned to the case. Matters get complicated when Sam has to team up with Nick Cappuano, O’Connor’s friend and chief of staff…and the man Sam had a memorable one-night stand with years earlier. Their sexual chemistry still sizzles, and Sam has to fight to stay focused on the case. Sleeping with a material witness is another mistake she can’t afford–especially when the bodies keep piling up.

First Impressions

This story grabs you right from the get-go with Nick’s discovery of a tragic murder. The detective assigned to the case is Sam Holland, who he had a one-night stand with about six years ago. The two have always wondered what might have been. The brilliance of this book is that it’s the perfect blend of mystery and romance. There’s also a decent amount of sexual tension involved between Nick and Sam. They try to control their urges, seeing as Nick is a material witness in this murder case, but neither wants to let this opportunity pass them by. So they don’t!

The Murder

The connection between Nick and the murder victim, John, really made this murder more personal. The two have been friends for years, and I think it’s this connection that is often missing in other mystery novels with a romantic aspect. Oftentimes the victim is a stranger, so the characters don’t really have an emotional link to the case. The fact that Nick and John were friends makes this murder mystery even more imperative to solve.

maxresdefault

At times I do think there may have been some liberties with the information that Sam disclosed to Nick about the case. I mean, she even brings him along to some interviews she has with potential suspects. Seems like something he should have stayed in the car for seeing as he knew the victim? Meh, what do I know about criminal proceedings?

Series: The Fatal series, book 1. I’ll definitely be a reader of this series, especially seeing as it’s set where I live!

Should you read it? It’s a good mystery romance. I did guess the identity of our killer a little over halfway through, but it still manages to be surprising and keep your interest.

Smut Level: Throughout the book I kept hoping we would have had more insight into their one night stand years before. Well, ask and you shall receive! There’s a prequel novella at the end which discloses all the flirtatious details.
